Trap shooters welcome Badger State Games with a bang

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- Trap shooting was just one of a dozen sports this weekend taking place in the Badger State Summer Games.

The Marathon Trap and Sportsmen Club held the trap shooting event Saturday in Marathon.

Organizers say 60 shooters in adult, senior and junior divisions signed up for the competition.

They say the Badger State Games are an important way to promote the sport to the younger generation.

"What it tells me is that the youth have an interest in the sport of shooting," said Don Hildebrandt, the Club's president. "They want to enhance their skills, grow their skills and just get involved with competition and competitive shooting."

The shooting sports at the Badger State Games continue Sunday at 10 a.m. with sporting clays at the Wausau Skeet and Trap Club.
