The driver of a vehicle failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign before a crash that killed a motorcyclist near Auburndale, the Wood County Sheriff's Department said Monday.

Brian Jovanovic, 34, of Eagle River was killed in the crash with a vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and state Highway 186 about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the agency said.

Jovanovic, who was not wearing a helmet, was westbound on Highway 10 and the other vehicle was northbound on Highway 186 when the vehicle pulled away from a stop sign and failed to yield to Jovanovic, Deputy Nathan Dean said in a statement.

No other details were released, including about the driver of the other vehicle.

"The sheriff's department has received information that the driver of the motor vehicle in this accident has been threatened," Dean said. "Due to the information received, the name of the operator of the motor vehicle's name is being withheld to ensure his/her safety."
