Two critically injured after head on crash in Lincoln County


Two people are critically injured after a head on crash in Lincoln County Monday afternoon.

According to the Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Department, the crash happened on County Highway A one mile north of County Highway U. Both drivers were the only occupants of their cars.

In a news release, the Sheriffs Department says one driver had to be extracted from their vehicle.

A witness tells the Sheriff's Department two vehicles were northbound at the time of the crash, when one swerved onto the shoulder of the road, possibly to avoid a collision with the southbound vehicle.

Both drivers were flown to Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.  The Sheriff's Department says alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The names of the drivers are not being released at this time.

The crash is still under investigation.
