Next steps in keeping Wausau mall alive

WAUSAU (WAOW) - The next steps are being taken to keep the Wausau mall alive.

The city is looking to hold a town meeting and invite businesses and residents. They would like to hear thoughts and opinions about the mall's future.

They're hoping questions about the building can be answered in the town hall. The company CBL, who owns the mall, would also be present.

"Our city council always wanted CBL to look at the big picture and the whole entire mall, and what it can be over the next 20 to 30 years, and they're taking a holistic look at the whole entire project instead of piece by piece," said Ann Werth, the Wausau director of community development.

CBL is currently looking at leases and talking to potential businesses to bring to the mall. The mall's director says there's no set time on when an agreement will be reached.
