Catching a fish could help area humane societies

JUNCTION CITY (WAOW) -- Proceeds from a fishing tournament at Dock of DuBay Bar and Grill will be donated to two central Wisconsin humane societies.

Dave Strebig, owner of Dock of DuBay, says the Grand Slam Fishing Tournament is in its second year.  Last year, more than $2,500 and many pet supplies were donated to the Marathon County Humane Society.  But, his business is in Portage County so he decided to split the proceeds and donate to both the Marathon and Portage County humane societies this year.

The tournament has an interesting format.  The first fishing group to catch all eight species listed wins.

There will also be raffles and food available.

The tournament is scheduled for Sunday, June 27th.  It'll run, rain or shine, from 6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Strebig says there's plenty of time to sign up.  He says you can do that by stopping by or calling Dock of DuBay.  The business address is 4522 County Road E in Junction City.  Their phone number is (715) 457-2700.  Strebig told us you can also sign up at Rib Mountain Marine.
