Thomas Street project in Wausau to delay traffic

WAUSAU (WAOW) – Another busy Wausau street – Thomas Street - is about to become an inconvenience for motorists.

The city says a flagging operation begins this week from the Wisconsin River to 17th avenue to repair asphalt patches and some traffic delays will occur.

Beginning July 7, sections of the same stretch will be closed so paving can be done.

The closures may change daily depending upon work operations for that day,” project manager Allen Wesolowski said. “Detours will be posted. Motorists should anticipate delays.”

Repaving the street is expected to take about two weeks, he said.

Grand Avenue is also under construction and causing traffic delays.
