UPDATE: WPS working to restore power to thousands after storms

Wisconsin Public Service officials say storms in the Northwoods knocked out power to 15,000 customers at one point Sunday night.

According to the WPS website, customers in several communities, including Boulder Junction, Lac du Flambeau and Irma are still without power.

WPS leaders say the outages are weather related and restoration times are not yet available.

“WPS is assessing the damage and have called in crews and will be sending them as they come in,” according to Lisa Prunty, Integrys Energy Group Public Relations Manager.

WPS warns people to stay away from downed power lines.
