Brief Marathon County storm downs trees

A short, but strong rain storm brought down a tree in Marathon County Sunday evening, blocking a road.

The tree fell at the intersection of Weston Avenue and Center Street in Rothschild.

Rothschild Police says the tree went down at about 5:30 p.m. due to heavy rain and wind.

Neighbors say the storm was so loud, they didn't even hear the tree fall.

"Lasting probably about 15 to 20 minutes out there at least and you could hear the whistling out here, but you couldn't see nothing out there," said Stanley Zyduck, a neighbor. "Come out after the rain and that's where that tree was laying out there."

Officials say no one was injured.

Police say Public Works will remove the fallen tree from the road Monday morning.

Officers say the storm downed other tree branches throughout the area.
