Review of Oregon Police operations continues

Posted: Updated:

OREGON (WKOW) -- Village officials say an internal review of the operations of the Oregon Police department continues, as long-time police chief Doug Pettit remains on leave.

Oregon Board of Trustees chairman Steve Staton says Pettit's absence is a personal leave. Pettit's leave commenced early last month. Former University Police department assistant chief Dale Burke is acting chief.

Staton says Pettit failed to provide village officials with adequate information on police calls to a local bar at the village board's annual consideration of the bar's liquor license, but declines to comment on whether the bar situation, or any other performance issue is related to Pettit's leave. The bar was denied a liquor license last month.
