Swimmers dislike cold; Bricklayers say it's OK

MARSHFIELD (WAOW)-- Hefko Pool in Marshfield usually has people waiting at the gates at late each morning ready to jump into the pool.

"Today there was not a line at all," said Pool Manager JB Hernandez said Monday.

Pool officials decided to close due to the fall-like cold.

"We need it to be at least 66-69 degrees to open so we decided we won't be opening for today," said Hernandez.

The daytime high in Marshfield was about 65 degrees.

While no one ventured to the pool, some people found other ways to enjoy the outdoors, including taking their children to the park.

"It is a little cooler than usual but it's not extremely hot so it's perfect," said Odessa Hettinga.

And not only were some people enjoying the cool weather as they played outside, construction workers liked the break from normal summer heat too.

"This is better for working conditions because it's a lot cooler," said JRH Masonry worker Chris Jacobitz.

Jacobitz has been working in construction for years and says it's hard to work in the heat every day.

"You don't have to worry about having to constantly drink water all the time. Now you can focus on work a little bit better without having that heat and humidity," he said.

The weather is expected to warm up throughout the week and revive many summer activities.
