Two teen boys busted for burglary

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two teenage boys were arrested Monday afternoon after a daytime home burglary on the city's west side.

Similar crimes have been problematic in the area of W. Valley Ridge Drive.  In this case, a 36-year-old woman left her purse inside her car when she parked inside her garage, left the door open and went inside her home for just a couple of minutes.  When she returned, her purse was gone.  The woman called her husband, as well as police to report the incident.

She could provide no description of the suspect(s), however she was able to give serial numbers to her iPhone and iPad, both of which were in her purse.

Officers scanned the area slowly, looking for potential leads when a woman walking her dog took note.  She spotted a purse thrown beneath a pine tree in a nearby park.  The iPhone, iPad and cash were all missing.  The citizen alerted police and with the K-9's help, officers followed the track to a grocery store near West Towne Mall.

As police entered, the victim's husband called to say the stolen iPhone had just been turned on and the tracking software placed it inside the mall.  An officer noticed two teens standing by, one holding an iPad and the other an iPhone.  The boys' faces immediately went from casual to shock, according to one officer.  The serial numbers matched the stolen electronics.  Both boys stated they purchased the items on the street from someone else.  One finally confessed, after parental pressure.

The two 14-year-old boys were arrested for burglary and obstructing.
