Marshfield man honored for service to community

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -- A Marshfield man is being honored yet again for the work he's doing to better the community.

Dennis Boucher was awarded the inaugural Paul Bunyan Service Above Self Award.

Boucher was also our Jefferson Award winner for the month of June.

He headed the fundraising efforts to open a new homeless shelter in Marshfield.  One, he says, there's a waiting list to get into.
Boucher says, "It has 14 apartments.  They are all full.  We opened four months ago.  We have people calling every day, trying to get into the shelter.  It's helping people, very much in need."

Congressman Sean Duffy presented Boucher with the award live on Wake Up Wisconsin Friday morning.  It will be awarded annually to a resident of the 7th Congressional District.
