One week before deadline, Brewers are NL's best

MILWAUKEE (WAOW) -- The Milwaukee Brewers are making their struggles leading into the All-Star Break look like a thing of the distant past.

Since the break, Milwaukee is 5-2, and has won four straight.

Dating back to the final game before the All-Star Break, the Brewers have now won five straight games at Miller Park, on the heels of losing seven straight at home.

The MLB trade deadline is now less than a week away, and the Brewers own the best record in the National League. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean they will make a move.

"Some guys are like 'oh I don't know if I'm going to be here in a few days,'" Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke said Friday. "Other teams are hopeful that they're going to get something big."

Roenicke said the Brewers GM Doug Melvin and the team are keeping their options open, but won't necessarily make a move before the deadline, as teams in the race often do.

"It's a pick-me-up a lot of times," Roenicke added. "Sometimes, you get somebody and they don't help you a lot. So it's hard to know."

The Brewers look for their fifth straight win Friday night against the Mets.
