Thousands turn out for Langlade County Fair

ANTIGO (WAOW) - County fairs are a summertime favorite in Wisconsin, and for some at the Langlade County Fair, the sights and sounds take them back to their childhood.

The fair raises money for the county's 4-H club, which supports hands-on learning for children.

"We've got some adults now who were kids in 4-H that now come back and help the fair because they want to keep the fair and the 4-H going," said Rhonda Klement, the fair coordinator.

One of those 4-H members that keep coming back is Dennis Klement, the Langlade County Leaders president.

"We started off in 4-H and then went to 4-H camp," said Dennis Klement.

He decided to continue with 4-H and work for the camp. Later on in life, he joined the fair board.

"It's truly an amazing event to see the community come together and make it work," said Dennis Klement.

Now, he continues to help his wife Rhonda run the show.

"We all become this big family," said Rhonda Klement.

Klement says the fair takes him back to his past.

"What brings back the memories is seeing myself in them,” said Dennis Klement. “Solving the same problems and learning the same life lessons."

Even though the Klement's haven't been to all 128 years the fair has been put on, they're hoping these families keep coming back every summer, just like them.

The fair continues at the Langlade County fairgrounds until Sunday.
