WAUSAU (WAOW) -

There are a number of big local names that will be racing in Saturday night's Detjens Memorial, but none bigger than former Nascar driver Scott Wimmer, who's returning to race at State Park Speedway for the first time in ten years.

Wimmer says he's been itching to race on a short track again, especially since his brother Chris won Slinger Nationals last week.

Saturday night's feature is put on to honor Wimmer's uncle, the late Larry Detjens, so returning to State Park to race in the Memorial is something Wimmer says just felt right.

"This has always been the biggest race for me," said Wimmer. "I've won a lot of short track races, I've won Nationwide and Busch races and competed at Daytona, but still coming back here for a memorial race for my uncle. This is a place I grew up racing. I turned my first laps in a race car at this track so it's special to me. I'm excited for the nightHopefullyly we can have a clean race, no cautions, and just have fun and put on a good show for the fans. "
