The Wisconsin Woodchucks completed a two-game sweep of the Madison Mallards, holding on for a 5-4 victory at Athletic Park Tuesday night.

After rain delayed the start of the game for an hour, the 'Chucks started the scoring early. In the bottom of the 1st inning Paul DeJong singled to score Taylor Kohlwey, giving the Woodchucks a 1-0 lead. A couple of batters later, Nate Mondou gave the 'Chucks a 2-0 lead with an RBI single that scored Brendon Hayden.

DeJong came through with another RBI in the bottom of the 3rd, again driving in Kohlwey, extending the lead to 3-0. Ryan Howard made it 4-1 with an RBI double to bring home Nate Mondou in the bottom of the 4th inning. In the 5th, Jake Scudder drove in Dejong to make it a 5-1 game.

The Mallard would score three times in the top of the 7th, but Austin Tribby came in for the save in the 9th inning, striking out two Mallards and securing the 5-4 victory.

The Woodchucks will square off with the  Green Bay Bullfrogs in a home-and-home day series on Wednesday. The first game of the series is at Athletic Park with a scheduled first pitch time of 1:05 p.m. Following the game, the two teams will hit the road for Green Bay to play the night cap of the series at Joannes Stadium.
