Woodchucks cruise, Rafters falter on Thursday

Posted:

A day after playing doubleheaders with each game in a separate city, the Woodchucks and Rafters were back at it again Thursday.

The Woodchucks, trying to bounce back from a sweep yesterday, hosted the division-leading Lakeshore Chinooks. The 'Chucks jumped out over Lakeshore early, tallying a run in the second inning and three more in the fourth, en route to a 7-3 victory.

Wisconsin remands one game back of Kenosha for the final playoff spot in the South Division.

In the three-run third inning, Wisconsin first-baseman Brendon Hayden drove home a run with a double. The hit made him the all-time leading hitter in Woodchucks franchise history.

The Rafters traveled north of the border to take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats. In a game that took fewer than two hours to play, the Rafters fell 13-7.

The loss drops the last-place Rafters to 22-40 on the season.
