71-year-old Rhinelander man injured in Lincoln Co. truck crash
LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW) -
Lincoln County Sheriff's officials say a 71-year-old Rhinelander man was injured after his truck crashed into the ditch in the Town of Bradley.
They say the crash happened at about 4:20 p.m. on Saturday on northbound U.S. Highway 51 just north of Crass Road.
Officials say witnesses told them the truck, which was towing a pop-up camper, started drifting across the northbound lanes and into the median. Witnesses reported that the driver then made an abrupt turn of the wheel, which caused the truck to lose control. They told officers this caused the truck to go into the east ditch, where it rolled several times before stopping.
Officers say the 71-year-old man received non-life threatening injuries to the head and face. They say a helicopter transported him to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. They say both the truck and camper received substantial damage.
Officials say they don't know what caused the man to lose control of the car, but they say neither speed or alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
