Komen Central Wisconsin Announces 2014 Race for the Cure Honorary Survivor
WAUSAU, WI – The Central Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen is proud to announce the 2014 Race for the Cure Honorary Survivor. Kristine Alston has been awarded this great honor and will speak on race day to share her courageous breast cancer journey with Central Wisconsin. She will also be dressed head to toe in Pink running gear provided by New Balance.
She’s a wife, a mother of two boys Tommy who is 14 and Robby who is 11 years old, an elementary school teacher, a half marathon runner and most recently, a breast cancer survivor. And according to her husband, Paul, who nominated her for the 2014 Honorary Survivor, she is “a shining example of how inner strength, love and faith can triumph in the face of adversity.”
With no family history, this very healthy woman took the unexpected news of her breast cancer diagnosis in stride. She calmly discussed the news with her family, friends and co-workers which set the tone for how these incredibly important people around her would get through this cancer journey with her.
We are excited to hear more about her inspirational Breast Cancer journey on Sunday, August 10th, 2014 downtown Wausau before the 5th annual Central Wisconsin Race for the Cure.
