Peppers adjusting to new role with Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WAOW) -- When Ted Thompson signed Julius Peppers in March, many wondered how the longtime Chicago Bear would mesh on the field with his former rivals.

However, the bigger concern for Peppers and the Packers coaching staff was how the eight time Pro Bowler would make the transition from a defensive end in a 4-3 scheme to an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme.

With 11 days of camp under his belt, Peppers says he feels right at home in a two-point stance.

"I'm feeling comfortable," he said Wednesday. "I'm feeling good about it actually, it's very similar to playing defensive end, so I'm feeling good about it."

When asked if he was expecting to play in the Packers first preseason game on Saturday, Peppers chuckled.

"I'm going to let the coaches handle those decisions," the veteran said. "Whatever they feel is best for the team and each individual, that's what we're going to go with."

The Packers open the preseason on Saturday at 7 p.m. against the Tennessee Titans.
