Fundraiser for "Camp Hometown Heroes"

ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) - A heartfelt fundraiser in Rothschild Friday.

Fred Mueller Automotive held a burger and bake sale to benefit "Camp Hometown Heroes."

That's a camp for children who lost a loved on while on duty overseas,

Children have fun in the great outdoors while healing their hearts and sharing their experiences.

The inspiration came from three girls from Weston who lost their father in Iraq.

"They're not alone. That there's other people who have experienced the same thing and they can come to camp and we can share the same experiences and talk it out," said Alexis Dampier of Weston, who lost her father in combat.

"Move on from having a parent not be there for them," said Dan Pheifer of Fred Mueller Automotive, an organizer of the event. "Have an opportunity to be around kids in a similar situation."

All of the proceeds go to "Camp Hometown Heroes."
