Packers 7th rounder Janis impressing

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WAOW) -- Packers rookie 7th round pick Jeff Janis still found a way to shine on a cloudy day in Green Bay Tuesday, and he has his coach eager to see what he can do Saturday against the Rams.

The Division 2 All-American receiver has participated in just three days of team drills since recovering from a bout with shingles, and didn't play in Saturday's preseason opener in Tennessee.

Still, he has made big plays in each practice, including a diving catch over the deep middle today.

"Big play production is a huge part of being successful in the NFL," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. "It's been interesting to see what he has done from the spring to now, it's been impressive."

"When you go out there and make plays," Janis said, "you feel the chemistry between the quarterback and you feel comfortable knowing the ball could be coming my way any time because they trust me to make a play."

The Packers second preseason game is Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in St. Louis. You can watch the game on Newsline 9.
