WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Area firefighters are looking for a hand in filling the boot.
The Wausau Fire Department was at the 400 Block Wednesday evening to raise money for local children with muscular dystrophy.
Firefighters say this is the 60th anniversary of raising money for the cause.
They say the cause is close to their hearts.
"These kids with MD are living longer because of these things, they're having a better quality of life. It's just a good cause all the way around," said Jeremy Kopp of the Wausau Fire Department. "And the fact that firefighters do it all across the country, it makes it that much more special for us to join in the fight."
The firefighters will be out collecting money next Wednesday on the 400 Block during the Concert on the Square.
They say they hope to raise $6,000. You can also donate by stopping by the Wausau Fire Station.
