Police: Man wanted in Weston bank heist

WESTON (WAOW) - A man is wanted after a bank was robbed in Weston Friday morning, Everest Metro Police Chief Wally Sparks.

The chief tells Newsline 9 that nobody was hurt during the robbery at Intercity State Bank on Schofield Avenue about 10 a.m.

Investigators tell us they are analyzing a note left by the suspect.

Sparks said a weapon was “implied” in the robbery and an undetermined amount of cash was taken.

It is unknown whether the suspect fled on foot or in a vehicle,” the police chief said in a statement.

A picture released by the Marathon County Sheriff's Department shows the suspected bank robber wearing a baseball cap and plaid shirt.

"Please do not approach this individual if you see him," the agency said on its Facebook page. "If you have information as to his whereabouts, please call Everest Metro PD or 911."

Newsline 9 reached out to Intercity State Bank for comment.
The bank president responded with a statement, saying "We are grateful to report that no one was injured. We want to assure all our customers their money is safe."

On Aug. 6, Banner Bank in Hatley was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by a lone gunman, authorities said. The robber fled in a vehicle. No arrests have been made.
