Once again the Stevens Point community is experiencing an increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles.
During the evening hours of August 12, at least two vehicles in the 1500 block of Franklin Street were entered and items were taken including an iPod touch, according to Portage County Sheriff's Department officials.
On August 13 at approximately 10 p.m., a resident in the 400 block of Fifth Ave reported observing two males rummaging through his and a neighbors vehicles, according to officials. When the resident yelled at the males they fled, one on a bicycle and another on a skateboard.
Later that evening, Stevens Point Brewery employees had their vehicles entered and items stolen while they were parked in the 2600 block of Water Street. These items include a blue Samsung Galaxy cell phone.
A witness to these thefts reported seeing a male on a bicycle with a light on it in the area when the thefts occurred.
