CLINTONVILLE (WAOW) – An 18-year-old woman told authorities she was able to “kick and bite” a man, escape from his pickup truck and flee into a cornfield after he attempted to sexually assault her, the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday.
The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. Monday on County Highway O near Clintonville after the woman accepted a ride from the man as she walked to Clintonville from a nearby home, Capt. Don Conat said.
The woman said the man, described as balding and in his late 30s or early 40s, tore off some of her clothing before she escaped from the truck, Conat said.
“There were rosary beads with a cross hanging from the rear-view mirror,” Conat said in a statement. "When the male driver turned his pickup truck around and started to drive westbound on Highway O, she became frightened."
The woman described the mustached man as weighing about 300 pounds and he had an accent or speech problem, Conat said.
Anyone who may have seen an early 2000's model four-door pickup truck with a topper on Highway O between U.S. Highway 45 and Baerenwald Road late Monday night is asked to contact the Waupaca Sheriff's Department at 715-258-4466.
