Northwoods communities are celebrating the connection of two major trails.
The Bearskin and Hiawatha trails in Tomahawk are now linked together.
Project leaders say the path now stretches about 32 miles from Tomahawk to Minocqua.
They say this project started 25 years ago.
Officials say the newly completed link cost about $100,000.
"This trail is going to benefit this region and community immensely," said Jim Wise, the project's committee chair. "Either the local people can hike it, bike in the summer months, snowmobile it in the winter and of course it's a big draw for tourism."
Trail committee leaders say about three miles of the trail is still on town roads.
They say they hope to move the path off the roads soon.
