Fan experiences green and gold dream

Posted:
GREEN BAY (WAOW) - For one Packers fan, Thursday's game is a dream come true.

Newsline 9 first introduced you to Griff Matthews earlier this week.

Matthews is dealing with some health issues.

He says going to Lambeau Field for a game was a big item on his bucket list. Now, he can check that off.

Friends and family gave him a warm send off the morning of the game.

In true Packers fan form, he started the day at Curly's Pub. He enjoyed food, drinks and was all decked out in green and gold.

Matthews is currently living at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. One day, he was telling a volunteer there about his dream to see Lambeau Field. So, she made it a reality.

Matthews said it was a day he will never forget.

"It looks like a castle at first, like a medieval castle. Just being here. I don't care who wins or loses as long as nobody gets seriously hurt," said Matthews.

He enjoyed the game with his wife and two friends, including the volunteer who made Thursday possible.

Matthews' wife said they will make sure to document the trip with lots of pictures.

He has a number of other things on his bucket list including a World Series or Super Bowl game. He says it would be ever sweeter if that Super Bowl game just happened to include the Packers.
