#13 LSU comes back to down #14 Wisconsin, 28-24

HOUSTON (WAOW) -- The 14th ranked Wisconsin Badgers started out hot, but #13 LSU came back from a 24-7 deficit to defeat the Badgers 28-24 in the season opener in Houston on Saturday night.

The Badgers (0-1) gave star running back Melvin Gordon 13 carries in the first half, but only three in the second. The Tigers outscored the Badgers 21-7 in that half.

Wisconsin quarterback Tanner McEvoy went just 8-24 for 50 yards, including two interceptions, in his first start as a Badger. McEvoy was tabbed the starter by Gary Andersen after he beat out incumbent Joel Stave, who spent much of the summer recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in last year's bowl game.

The win extends LSU's non-conference winning streak to an FBS-best 46 games.

The Badgers will look for their first win next week, when they take on Western Illinois at Camp Randall Stadium. Kickoff is at 11:00 a.m.
