The annual "Birds in Art" exhibition is set to open in Wausau on Saturday.
The display will run September 6 through November 16 at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.
"Birds in Art" features more than 100 all-new artworks. Among six new collection exhibitions, "Legacy Lost & Saves" pays tribute to extinct and endangered birds, including the passenger pigeon.
Organizers say early bird visitors to the exhibit will have a one of a kind opportunity to meet the artists behind the displays on Saturday. Seventy artists will be on hand for opening morning. There will be a Master Artist talk at 9:30 a.m., followed by an Artists in Action presentation where nine artists will demonstrate different mediums.
