WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Early in September, rainwater overwhelmed Water Works treatment plant. Water Works was forced to send untreated water into the Wisconsin River.
Local water treatment officials met with City Hall to discuss ways to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Water Works employees explained water treatment options to city officials.
The city is in favor of several proposals, but officials say more investigation is needed before any solutions are recommended.
"We'll want to be working on evaluating and troubleshooting, making sure we don't have another problem that will catch us unprepared," explained Dave Erickson, the waste water superintendent.
Another meeting will take place next month to discuss the options in detail.
