Wisconsin health officials are ready if Ebola Virus spreads

PREVIEW: WAUSAU (WAOW) Wisconsin health officials say hospitals are prepared to treat and quarantine Ebola patients in the event the disease spreads here.

The Marathon County Health Department urges Wisconsin residents to remain calm. They say, there is currently no need to panic.

The Ebola Virus spreads through bodily fluids. Ebola is only contagious if an infected person shows symptoms.

The first case of Ebola Virus was diagnosed in the United States Sept. 30.

The patient is currently under medical care in Dallas. According to CNN, 100 people may have come into contact with the ebola patient. Close relatives are being quarantined.

Some Dallas parents are keeping their children home from school out of concern for the virus, according to the Associated Press.
