MOSINEE (WAOW) -- Saturday kicked off the youth deer hunt weekend.
For some hunters, going out to the stands is a tradition.
Fifteen-year-old Broc Suthers says he's been going hunting with his family for as long as he can remember.
Suthers' grandfather, Thomas A. Suthers, says he's been hunting for sixty-two years.
This year, an eleven-year-old boy from Boston joined the Suthers on the youth hunt.
Liam Tuffy says he did not know what to expect when he came to Wisconsin.
"He's never shot a rifle in his whole life," said Thomas Suthers. "I showed him how and where to aim."
Tuffy caught on quickly. He shot his first deer on his first day hunting.
"I just felt [the gun] kick," said Tuffy with a big smile. "I didn't even see [the deer] go down."
Fifteen-year-old Broc Suthers also had a successful hunt. Suthers says he loves the cchallenge
But this weekend wasn't all about hunting. Hunters say, sharing their passion for hunting was better than shooting deer.
Both young hunters say they hope to get a 'big-buck' next year.
