Burke and Walker gear up for final campaigns

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The Wisconsin Candidates for governor are working hard to finish their campaigns strong.

Mary Burke and Gov. Scott Walker have different strategies. Both candidates have said, this race is about much more than the person who wins.

Governor Scott Walker says his focus is on putting power into the hands of Wisconsin taxpayers, and Mary Burke's campaign says she wants to give everyone who's willing to work hard a fair shot.

Newsline 9 was unable to get a phone interview with Mary Burke. Her communications director spoke on her behalf.

"What Mary's doing over the next ten days is making sure people understand what's at stake, how clear that choice is, and making sure every eligible voter who wants to cast a ballot has the opportunity to do so," said Joe Zepecki, the communications director for Mary Burke.

"Why we've been on this bus tour criss-crossing the state and why we will be all the way through the election is we think the way to counter that is to get out and talk to people, motivate them to go door-to-door, neighbor-to-neighbor," said Gov. Scott Walker.

The politicians are approaching their last few campaign days differently, but they both say they are pushing to make Wisconsin a better place for students and workers.

Both candidates say, their campaign will be in full force through Election Day.
