Bosnian police arrest 12 war crimes suspects

Bosnian police have arrested 12 war crimes suspects in the northern town of Prijedor, where Serb forces committed brutal attacks during the 1992-95 Bosnian War that left 100,000 dead.

Bosnia's state prosecution office said in a statement Monday that all 12 men, former members of the Bosnian Serb army and police, are suspected of killings, torture, rape and other crimes allegedly committed during an attack on Zecovi, a village where over 150 Muslim Bosnians were killed, among them 29 women and children.

Some of the victims' bodies have been found in a mass grave in Tomasica -- one of the biggest in Bosnia, discovered only last year.

Thousands were killed or taken to three concentration camps during Serb efforts in 1992 to drive all non-Serbs out of the area.
