Bus driver cited in crash that killed central WI woman
SHAWANO COUNTY (WAOW) -- A bus driver was cited twice for failure to yield following a deadly crash involving a car and school bus in Shawano County, according to the final accident report.
The citations are failure to yield causing death and failure to yield causing great bodily harm, according to our sister station WBAY. The citations come with fines and a nine-month suspension of the bus driver's license.
The September 2 crash killed 24-year-old Shannon Hall of Athens and injured her fiance Justin Cyzan, just weeks before their wedding.
The crash happened on Highway 29 at St. Augustine Road in Pittsfield. A school bus for the Pulaski School District was carrying volleyball team members home from a match when it pulled out in front of the vehicle driven by Cyzan, according to investigators.
Some members of the team were injured in the crash.
The final report was released to Action 2 News by the Shawano County Sheriff's Office. The Brown County Sheriff's Office did the crash reconstruction.
The Pulaski Community School District is also conducting an investigation. Officials say the driver who was cited has not been driving bus for the district since the crash happened.
