ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) -- There will be a soup sale on Saturday to raise money for a food bank. It's part of a fundraiser called Empty Bowls.
Workers from The Neighbor's Place in Wausau were busy all day Friday getting ready for the 7th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser.
For $10 people can stop by the Rothschild Pavilion on Saturday and enjoy a bowl of soup and some breadsticks.
When people finish their soup, they get to take a bowl home with them. Many of the bowls were made by local high school students.
The Neighbors Place's director, Tom Rau, said the event has grown every year.
"Last year we had 1,200 people that attended. This year we hope to get 1,500. It's a really exciting event," said Rau.
In addition to soup and live entertainment, a silent auction is also planned.
The money raised goes to support the food bank at The Neighbor's Place.
The Empty Bowls fundraiser begins at 11 a.m. Saturday and runs until 2 p.m.
A bowl of soup for children costs $5.
