Newsline 9 caught up with Charles Newby, the owner of Newby's Evergreen Farms to gather tree tips.Newby said knowing what tree to pick out can help the tree decorating process. Newby said pick a tree with space between the branches. That way, the ornaments will have room to hang."You want a tree that's got good color, nice and green, that has tender, flexible branches," Newby said.Newby also recommends picking out a tree with a straight trunk."Cut a tree down that has some space so you can see the trunk. Don't try to just push the saw in wherever it will go and start pumping away on it," Newby said. It's important to keep the tree moist after it is chopped down."Don't let it run dry. A tree will take up a surprisingly amount of water that first day," Newby said. He said to check your tree two times per day, especially the first week. For Newby, seeing all of the children come to pick out a Christmas tree is the best part about owning the farm."We don't sell trees we sell an experience, and we start a family tradition," Newby said.
Dry and cool for a few days then turning much warmer by the end of the week. A rather dry pattern as well.
