THROWBACK THURSDAY: 1997 Packers room

(WAOW) -- Newsline 9 is celebrating 50 years of bringing the news to you here in Central Wisconsin. As we do that, we're taking a look back at some memorable stories throughout the years.

As the Packers get set to take on the Cowboys this weekend, many fans will be watching.

We head back to 1997 to check out one green and gold fanatic's Packers room.

Packers mania has reached its peak.

On Mark Kapper's 10th birthday, he told his parents he wanted a Packers bedroom. He got his wish and a whole lot more.

"I was a Packer nut when my dad and my brother was one. That's why I was a Packer maniac," said Kapper.

"I'm a big Packer fan, really big. That's the biggest part of my life I think. So, he just follows me," Kapper's brother said.

But with all this Packers stuff, the big brother is the one green with envy. Anything sold in green and gold, Mark's got it.

Nothing in this room is a duplicate.

"I almost have everything in the world of the Packers."

"It's just one thing after another and it's just gotten to be, I don't know, it's contagious. It really has been contagious."

All of these items comes with a price tag and Mark thinks he knows how much it all costs.

"Almost $90 or more. Who told you that? Nobody, I just took a guess."

Well, maybe a bit more. But the collection is still growing. Mark is looking forward to adding some Super Bowl souvenirs in a few weeks.
