Bad weather, visibility prevent search of AirAsia fuselage
Bad weather and poor underwater visibility have prevented Indonesian navy divers from searching inside the large chuck of AirAsia jet wreckage that's believed to be the fuselage.
Search officials say at least 15 divers descended to the seabed to examine the piece of wreckage, calculate its weight and search for bodies. But they were unable to do so because of the weather and sea conditions.
Some parts of the fuselage appear to be covered with silt.
The 100-foot-long section of the plane body with a wing attached was sighted on the bottom of the Java Sea yesterday. Rescuers believe that most of the bodies of the 162 people on board are inside.
So far, only 50 bodies have been recovered from the Dec. 28 crash.
