Mantel says Prince Charles enjoying 'Wolf Hall' TV series

LONDON (AP) - "Wolf Hall" author Hilary Mantel has been honored by Prince Charles, who said he was enjoying the TV adaptation of her saga of royal intrigue and treachery.

Mantel was made a dame -- the female equivalent of a knight -- at a Buckingham Palace ceremony Friday.

The writer said she and the prince "talked about the television series of `Wolf Hall,' which he's enjoying very much."

The BBC series is adapted from Mantel's award-winning novels about King Henry VIII's adviser Thomas Cromwell.

A new biography of Charles by journalist Catherine Mayer claims a former employee nicknamed his household Wolf Hall because of its atmosphere of scheming.

Asked about similarities between the modern royal household and the Tudor court, Mantel said: "I think there may be an element of exaggeration there."
