ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) -- A woman who learned she was pregnant after surviving a car crash has given birth -- in a car.
The Herald-Palladium reports that the baby arrived Wednesday while Krista Howard was being driven by her mother to a St. Joseph hospital during a snowstorm in southwestern Michigan.
Mary Safranek says she was just minutes away from Lakeland Medical Center, but the baby wouldn't wait. Gracelyn Higgins was born in the back seat, delivered by her father.
Safranek says Corey Higgins was a "little shaken but proud of himself."
The baby's mom learned she was pregnant when she was admitted to the hospital last June. Howard's car had been struck by a cement truck in Coloma Township.
Plenty of clouds the next few days, but also warmer.
The snowmobile trails opened in Vilas CountyFriday at 5 p.m.
