Man known as 'Jihadi John' identified

(ABC) – A former senior intelligence official has confirmed to ABC News that the man known as Jihadi John as been identified.

The intelligence official says the man who has appeared in several ISIS videos has been identified as London native Mohammed Emwazi

Emwazi first appeared in a string of disturbing videos last August, in which he appears to slice the necks of hostages, including American journalist James Foley.

According to the BBC, Emwazi was born in Kuwait and was believed to have traveled to Syria in 2012.
