FBI investigating apparent firebombing of KFC in Nevada

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Fire officials in Reno say they called the FBI to investigate an apparent attempt to firebomb a fast-food restaurant because of the possibility it could have been an act of domestic terrorism.

The FBI has confirmed the investigation at a KFC in Reno where a window was broken the day before. A flammable liquid was found inside, and the initials of an animal rights group were scrawled on a drive-thru sign.

ALF is the abbreviation used by Animal Liberation Front, a group that has long accused KFC of animal cruelty.

FBI spokeswoman Bridget Pappas confirmed her agency is investigating, but won't say why.

Reno Fire Capt. Tray Palmer told The Associated Press on Tuesday the FBI took over the case "because of the potential for domestic terrorism."
