Stevens Point beats Germantown to win state title

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Sam Hauser and Trev Anderson scored 25 points apiece as Stevens Point denied Germantown a fourth straight title with a 67-51 victory in the Division 1 championship game of the WIAA state boys basketball tournament on Saturday.

Hauser made all five shots he took, including four 3-pointers, in the first quarter to finish the period with 16 points. The junior forward hit 3s on the Panthers' final three possessions of the quarter, kicking off a 17-3 Stevens Point run.

Anderson scored the final eight points of the spurt, which gave the Panthers (27-1) a 24-12 lead. The junior guard's 3-pointer less than a minute into the fourth quarter put Stevens Point up 50-34.

Juwan McCloud scored 15 points to lead the Warhawks (27-1), who were seeking their third undefeated season in four years.
