NFL suspends blackout rule for the 2015-16 season

In 2014 the Green Bay Packers wild card playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers was almost blacked out because of the NFL's blackout policy. But this coming football season that won't be an issue for the Packers or any team in the NFL.

NFL owners, coaches and executives kicked off their annual meeting at the Arizona Biltmore on Monday. The NFL announced that they will suspend it's blackout policy for the 2015-16 season.

Congress and the Federal Communications Commission has pressured the NFL in recent years to lift the blackout rule.

For the past 30 years the blackout rule was applied when teams did not sell a large percentage of tickets for a home game within 72 hours of kickoff.

This change will only be for this season and after the NFL will re-evaluate the policy.
