Athlete of the Week: Chris Pahl

Chris Pahl has been a soccer player for most of his life, but in middle school he decided to try something different. He joined the track team and found he had a natural talent.

"I won conference in 8th grade pretty easily and I decided then that I would keep doing it throughout high school," Pahl said.

In his first few years on Marshfields track team he looked up to the seniors. He says seeing their hard work and success still inspires him to get better and now he's a leader on the team for the younger athletes.

"He does the leadership role of doing what he's supposed to do, lead by doing, he's just one of those kids," Marshfield head coach Dennis Goettl said.

Pahl's goal this year is to beat his personal best in the triple jump, a distance he set in his sophomore year.

"I got 42.10 and that beat my previous best by well over two feet so it was definitely a big moment for me, the coaches were all pumped and they named me like the MVP of the team for the meet which was fun," Pahl said.

Pahl sat out for most of the soccer season with an injury and after making it to sectionals his junior year he wants to finish his last year on a high note.

"I really want to be able to finish this season without any injuries. I want it to end on my own terms and if that means going to state that would be amazing," Pahl said. "I know what I have to do to get there and it's going to take a lot of hard work and I'm willing to do it."
