Clergy members call for Officer Matt Kenny to resign
MADISON (WKOW) -- A group of local clergy members are calling for Officer Matt Kenny to leave the Madison police force.
Members of the African-American Council of Churches say Kenny should resign, retire or relocate after the shooting of Tony Robinson. The clergy members say Kenny acted irrationally and improperly, resulting in Robinson's death.
They also disagree with the decision to clear the officer of any charges.
Last week, Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said Kenny was justified in his use of force in the March 6th shooting.
Kenny is still on leave, pending an internal investigation by the Madison Police Department.
As WKOW-TV in Madison first reported last week, Madison police chief Mike Koval says he's still considering Kenny's role in the police department and he is concerned about the officer's safety if he returns to patrol duty.
