Theater shooting juror allegedly saw news reports on case
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- The judge in the Colorado theater shooting trial is questioning three jurors after one of them reportedly violated an order by seeing a news report on the case and telling others.
The issue came to light Tuesday when a fourth juror told Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. she heard a juror talking about the trial on two occasions.
She said the juror told her and two other jurors Monday that the district attorney was reprimanded for tweeting about the case during proceedings. She also said about a week ago, the same juror said the defense sought a mistrial.
Jurors wouldn't have known about the Twitter issue or mistrial request because they weren't in the courtroom when the judge and attorneys discussed them.
A total of 24 jurors and alternates were seated in the case. They won't know if they're among the 12 to decide the case until deliberations are about to begin.
