Bucks hoping season's momentum carries over to a new arena

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The momentum from the Milwaukee Bucks' surprising season is carrying over off the court.

State and municipal leaders last week announced a $500 million financing deal to build a new arena. Team officials say it is major progress, though there is still a long road ahead because the deal still needs legislative approval.

The Bucks finished 41-41 and made the playoffs this past season, a remarkable improvement following a franchise-worst 15-win campaign in 2013-14. They have emerging stars in forwards Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Parker, the second overall pick in the 2014 draft, was sidelined for much of the year with a knee injury. He is watching the arena developments from afar, though one of the most popular Bucks says the players want to stay in Milwaukee.
